Grandpa’s tree

Illustration - 2021

Grandpa’s tree is a miniature that aims to illustrate scenes of a story about my grandpa’s house for art gallery visitors.

Rule of thirds is used in this composition. The bottom section shows the house, with its features, antiques, and vibe, the middle section represents the scene, and the top section is for the tree, which works as the cause of this story. The illustration style is outline illustrations. The depth of the scene was shown through the lighting and shadows. The colors are true to the environment, however, I picked pastel dreamy tones to convey my emotions and thoughts when I recall this memory.

The story

This miniature illustrates my grandfather's home. The tree was well-cared by my grandfather, who refused to chop it down. As a result, the house was designed according to this tree, resulting in a space in the center of the home with several windows facing the tree. The miniature is also illustrating a scene of an incident when we got a benefit from that tree and windows. The kitchen door lucked, and no one was inside, and the oven was turned on. My older brother tried unsuccessfully to unlock the door until we began to smell smoke coming from the kitchen. To avoid endangering everyone, my brother decided to enter the kitchen through the window, turn off the oven, and then try to open the door from inside.
